This is a one person small business built around my creative practice.
Most of my work starts with an image, a story or an object I wish existed. I’ve always been drawn to objects that feel like they have a history like things that feel a little mysterious or ancient like artifacts, symbols, old traditions, tribal adornment and unusual materials. The feeling of discovering something from a world that doesn’t quite exist. Making them is a way for me to bring those ideas into the real world.
Alongside my art practice, I’ve spent the last six years working as a loctician, helping over 100 clients grow and maintain healthy locs. Whether someone is just starting their journey, coming in for maintenance or repairing years of growth, my goal has always been the same which is to provide work that is long lasting and tailored to the individual. A big part of my work is making sure clients feel informed and comfortable with their locs, understanding their hair, knowing how to care for it and feel confident living with their locs day to day.
To me, being a loctician isn’t just about doing hair. It’s about helping people build a sustainable relationship with their dreadlocks/locs and being someone they can trust throughout the journey.
