Consultation

+

Every braiding appointment begins with a consultation. We'll discuss the style you're looking for, braid size, length, colour, volume and overall finish.

I'll also assess your natural hair to make sure it's suitable for braiding and help you choose a style that's comfortable, practical and suited to your preferences.

I offer a wide variety of braided styles, including classic box braids, knotless box braids, twists, boho braids, curly-end styles, micro braids, medium braids, jumbo braids, and everything in between.

Every set is customised to suit your preferences, whether you're looking for extra length, volume, bold colours or a more subtle finish.

The Braiding Process

+

To create the style, your hair is sectioned before kanekalon braiding hair extension is braided together into your natural hair, section by section, creating additional length, fullness and structure while allowing the braid to feel secure and well balanced.

The amount of extension hair, braid size and overall technique are adjusted throughout the appointment depending on the style you're after. This allows each set to be tailored to your preferred length, density and finish.

What to Expect

+

Fresh braids will feel neat and secure. You will notice some tension around your scalp for the first few days, especially with longer or fuller styles — this usually settles as the braids loosen slightly with wear.

The overall look, weight and appointment duration will vary depending on the braid size, length and amount of hair being installed.

04

Care & Maintenance

+

With proper care, braids can generally be worn for 6–8 weeks, depending on your hair growth, lifestyle and how well they're maintained.

To help them last:

  • Keep your scalp clean.
  • Dry your hair thoroughly after washing.
  • Avoid excessive pulling or tight styling.
  • Sleep with a satin bonnet or pillowcase to reduce frizz.
  • Moisturise your scalp when needed.
05

Braid Removal

+

Braids can usually be removed at home with a little patience and care.

To remove them, carefully unravel each braid using the pointed tail of a rat-tail (pin-tail) comb. Once the extension hair has been loosened, gently separate it from your natural hair before completely undoing the braid. Taking your time helps minimise unnecessary tangling and breakage.

If you'd prefer not to remove them yourself, I also offer braid removal as a service.

Once your braids have been removed, it's completely normal to notice more shed hair than you might expect. Hair naturally sheds every day, but while your hair is braided, those loose strands remain trapped within the style until it's taken down.

After removal, I recommend thoroughly washing and conditioning your hair, then gently detangling it before installing another protective style or wearing it loose.

Hair Requirements

  • Your hair should be healthy enough for braiding.
  • If your hair has been recently bleached, chemically treated or is showing signs of significant damage, I'll assess whether braiding is suitable during your consultation.
  • If you're experiencing excessive hair fall, alopecia or scalp conditions, I recommend consulting a dermatologist before getting braids.
  • If you're unsure which braid size or style would suit you, we'll discuss your options during the consultation.

Appointment Duration

The length of your appointment depends on several factors, including:

  • Braid size
  • Hair length
  • Hair density
  • Desired braid length
  • Overall volume
  • Style complexity

Larger braids can often be completed in a couple of hours, while very fine or highly detailed braids may take significantly longer.
